Literacy Clinic
What is The Blosser Center difference?
- We believe that people who struggle to learn to read, write and spell deserve the power of literacy.
- We believe that competence creates confidence.
- We believe that struggling students make the best progress when taught individually by highly trained educational therapists.
- We aim to bring students' skills up to their academic potential.
- We provide parents and children with knowledge and support.
Blosser Center instruction offers a superior value.
- Students receive individualized instruction, not workbook assignments.
- Tuition is $45 per session.
- We use the Orton-Gillingham approach, the gold standard of teaching literacy skills to struggling students.
- The Orton-Gillingham approach has been validated by scientific research.
- It has brought success to students for over 75 years in clinics and schools around the world.
Why is The Orton-Gillingham Approach effective?
- The Orton-Gillingham approach is multisensory, using the visual, auditory and kinesthetic neural pathways simultaneously. Reading and spelling are taught together.
- It is sequential, building from basic to complex elements.
- Blosser Center Educational Therapists are highly skilled and supervised by Fellows of the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators.
- Standardized testing is used to show student progress.
How do I know this would fit my child's needs?
- Academic placement screening includes standardized and diagnostic testing.
- One fee covers all academic evaluations.
- Separate cognitive testing is required.
- Blosser Center academic testing reports are accepted by schools and colleges nationwide.
- We Don't Give Up. We recognize that there is no quick fix for students who struggle to learn to read, write and spell.
